On the menu today, I have a delicious open-faced egg sandwich!
I’m going to show you how to make the perfect breakfast sandwich using bread, butter, pepper flakes, avocado, lemon, and egg. I am not even kidding when I say this has been my morning meal almost every day recently!
This sandwich is packed with flavor and perfect for a quick and satisfying breakfast. So, let’s get started!

Open-Faced Egg Sandwich

Step 1: Gather all the ingredients, you will need the following:
- 1 slice of bread
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- pinch of pepper flakes
- 1/4 garlic salt
- 1/2 of an avocado
- 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice
- 1 egg
- A handful of leafy greens (spinach, arugula, or lettuce)
- Cherry tomatoes (optional)
Step 2: Melt butter, pepper flakes, and garlic salt
In a small pan, melt 1-2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add a pinch of pepper flakes and 1/4 teaspoon of garlic salt, and stir until well combined.
Step 3: Toast the bread
Place the slices of bread in the pan of melted butter and make sure they are coated well on both sides. Toast the bread to your desired level of crispiness, then remove them from the pan, set it aside, and turn off the stove.
Step 4: Cook the eggs
While the pan is still hot, crack the eggs directly on the pan and season with pepper flakes and garlic salt. Cook the eggs to your desired level of doneness. (I flip the egg as soon as it gets a nice bottom)
Step 5: Prepare the avocado
While the egg is cooking, slice the avocado in half, remove the pit and skin, and mash the avocado with a fork right onto the toast. Squeeze the juice of half a teaspoon of lemon over the avocado for that tasty kick and season with garlic salt.
Step 6: Prepare the leafy greens
If your leafy greens don’t come prepared, wash and dry the leafy greens, and then chop them into small pieces.
Step 7: Assemble the sandwich
Your avocado should already be on the toast but just in case it’s not, do that now and season! Add a handful of leafy greens on top, place the cooked egg on the leafy greens, and voila the easiest breakfast sandwich is complete!
Step 8: Enjoy!
Your breakfast sandwich is now ready to be enjoyed! This sandwich is a delicious combination of creamy avocado, savory eggs, crispy bread, and fresh leafy greens, all brought together with a touch of butter and a hint of pepper flakes, and garlic salt.
Optional: you can serve cherry tomatoes on the side!
