All items are linked at the end of the post!
Step 1. Office Desk
The very first thing we’re focusing on is your office desk. Your desk needs to have a few items as possible on it. Having too many items and too much paperwork will get overwhelming and make the atmosphere more challenging.
Here Are Some Things We Recommend Keeping On Your Desk
- Laptop/desktop computer
- Writing utensils used every day
- Desk organizer
- File organizer
Having a space clean and minimal will up your workspace and help you throughout your workday! Anything you use in bulk shouldn’t be sitting on your desk.
Purchase a desktop organizer for your pens, scissors, tape, staples, post-it notes, etc. These organizers usually come in a set!
We are linking our favorite at the end of the post!
Step 2. Desk Cabinets
What goes into office cabinets
- Extra Daily Used Supplies
- File Organizer
If your desk has cabinets, use them for supplies that you use every day in bulk. For example, if you use certain pens every day or paper, keep that nearby just in case you run out, so you don’t have to get up and look for them. Having your frequently used items next to you will save you time and keep your most used items near you.
Don’t overfill these cabinets. ( It will make it difficult for you to find items you use every day)
Step 3. Office Cabinets or Closet
If you don’t have a closet in your office room, purchasing a few cabinets (even plastic ones) will help you tremendously. Use this space for items not used as often.
For Example:
- Extra Pens
- Copy Paper
- Extra Folders
- Etc.
Go an extra step and label all the items. (label your containers and/or cabinets) This way you can find everything fast and easy with no time wasted!
(use plastic containers to store everything and then set them into your office cabinets or closet!)
Step 4. Work Papers
You Need:
- File Folders
- Labels
If this is a home office, your home papers might mix in with your work papers. To avoid this from happening, make sure you have file organizers with labels! Organizing and labeling your papers won’t take long, but it will be life-changing!
Make sure you keep home papers and personal items separate from your work items.
Use folders and cabinets for this! If you use specific forms or paper for work every day, they can sit on your desk or near your desk and in an organized file folder!
Like always were link our favorite office organizers at the end of the post!
Step 5. Trash Bin/Recycling Bin
You Need:
- Trash Bin
- Recycling Bin
After having everything organized in your office, don’t forget the most obvious step! Have a trash bin next to you and a recycling bin for your papers or other items!
This will also save you time and save you the clutter! You can keep your trash bin right underneath your desk or next to it for easy access!
Throwing away unnecessary items right away will prevent your office from getting cluttered again.
Bonus: Everything Has A Spot
In order for your office space to stay organized, you need to remember that now everything has a spot, a place of its own.
Extra supplies have their own cabinet space, all work (and personal) paperwork has a file folder. Writing utensils all have their own spot on the table.
Make a habit of putting your items in the correct spot right away! Having a mindset that everything has a spot will save your time later on!
