Days after Christmas, you might find yourself wondering just how to prepare for the new year that’s right around the corner.
To make life a tad bit easier for you, I have put together a list of things that will help you welcome the new year with ease.
The New Year might bring feelings of stress as you run through your mind deciding what you can do differently this time around. And if you’re feeling stressed out, you won’t have time to celebrate the holidays and the chance of a refresh.
As cliche as it might sound, a new month and a new year does bring with it an urge of wanting to re-start.
So why not do exactly that!
It doesn’t have to way you down either; go down the list provided below and try out new things for you and your home, and you never know- they might stick!
This post is all about how to prepare for the New Year!
How To Prepare For The New Year
1) Start Using A Daily To-Do List
To-do lists are my best friends. After using a to-do list a few times, you will soon realize that no matter how many tasks you have for the day, they will help you stay on track and stress-free.
Whether it is house chores, work tasks, or tending to your children, a good to-do list will do its’ job! Give it a try, and let me know if it helped you out!
2) Time Block Your Day/Week
Just like a to-do list, time blocking will help you out tremendously. Let me explain what time blocking is.
Time blocking is when you write out things to do at what hour of the day. For example, at 6 AM, you wake up, 6:30 AM, you have your morning devotional, 7 AM exercise, 7:30 AM breakfast, etc.
If you are a mom or simply have a busy work/life, time blocking your day will keep you sane and help you complete your to-do lists.
3) Make An Effort To Wake Up Earlier
When you decide to make an effort to wake up earlier, you will realize how much time you have for yourself.
Everyone needs some ‘me’ time, but if you wake up 5 minutes before leaving for work, there won’t be much ‘me’ time going on. So start teaching yourself to wake up early for a slow, quiet morning to yourself!
4) Make A Habit Of Keeping Your Home Tidy
If, in the past year, you haven’t made much of an effort of tidying up your space, make it a priority for this year. You will be surprised how much having a clean home will impact your mind and inner peace.
No, you don’t have to deep clean every corner every day of the week. Just a simple pick-me-up (wash dishes, pick up toys, etc.) at the end of each day will make an amazing difference!
5) Let Go Of Other People’s Opinions
Wow. It is MUCH easier said than done for sure! I have struggled (and sometimes still do) with this for the longest time! If you let everyone’s opinion hold you down from going forward, it can really mess things up.
Here is a little tip, if you were not looking for someone’s opinion, or asking for someone’s opinion, then surely their opinion does not matter!
There is no need to feel hurt or discouraged by someone else’s unnecessary opinion. Pray for wisdom, and you will soon learn how to let things go!
6) Put God First
You will notice a great change after doing this! It is amazing how things will fall right back to place when you decide to start putting God first. This means making the time and the effort to pray and study the Bible. I guarantee things will start looking up for you!
7) Make The Time For A Morning Devotional
This goes along with step number 6. Every morning, give yourself 10-15 minutes to pray and read! Doing so will give your day a boost and get your mind ready for all the tasks you have to complete!
8) Exercise A Few Times A Week
Putting exercise on your new year list might be a common thing you do. But this year, make an effort to do so. Make a goal realistic enough that will encourage you to keep going! In the mornings, choose to go for a 30-minute walk for a fresh start t the day.
Or you can choose to do light cardio a few times a week to keep your body in shape and healthy! You will start to notice how much more energy you will start to have!
9) Decide To Stay Of Your Phone First Thing In The Morning
For the first 30 minute – 1 hour of you waking up, try not to reach for your phone first thing. This will help you mind wake up slowly and feel refreshed.
By reaching for your phone and scrolling through Tic Tok Or Instagram your mind becomes groggy and you won’t feel well rested.
Give your mind the chance to wake up with you while you brush your teeth, have devotional time and breakfast. It is guaranteed for a better start to your day!
10) Make Time For The Important Relationships In Your Life
With life speeding up the older we get, we tend to get lost in our work and daily tasks, leaving the most important things behind. Relationships. Between spouses, children, family, friends. This year make that effort.
Make time for a date night with your spouse. Make the time to build a fort with your kids. Visit your parents. Call your friends. Make that time before you realize it’s too late! You will never regret making the time, but you will regret not making it.
This post was all about how to prepare for the New Year!
In my opinion, getting read ready for the New Year is more than a new year resolution. Getting ready for the New Year is getting a chance to start with a clean slate.
It is preparing mentally, physically, and spiritually.
It’s not an overnight fix.
It is a learning process!
Read this list and choose what is best for you! Don’t be too hard on yourself and remember that change is a process!
I hope you were able to find what works for you! Let me know in the comment section below which one was your favorite! I’d love to hear from you!
Happy New Year!
