Springtime brings with it an urge of wanting something new, including the thought of how to decorate your porch for spring!
Spring is a time when the snow has melted, and flowers have started blooming.
Cleaning and refreshing our homes are in full swing.
Maybe you have just moved into a new home or maybe you have been in your home for a while now in by the looks of it, your porch needs a refresh and some new decor!
Just like when decorating the inside of your home, decorating your porch needs planning and this might leave you feeling a bit stuck on where to start.
I’ve put together some helpful tips and ideas to help you achieve a refreshed look on your porch. It will make you feel excited and you will love your home even more!
This post is all about the best tips on how to decorate your porch for spring!
How To Decorate Your Porch For Spring
1) Start Fresh
Starting fresh is very important. This will help you see exactly what you are trying to achieve.
If you have any items on your porch, remove them. All plants, furniture, and any other decor pieces need to be taken off your porch.
By removing everything, it will help you see what you need to get rid of or what you need to refresh. (repaint or wash)
2) Clean/Wash Your Porch And Porch Furniture
After you have taken everything off and decided what you are keeping, it is time to give your porch a little wash. Sweep the floor from any leftover leaves, wipe down any cobwebs and wash everything off if need be.
This also includes your furniture. If your outdoor furniture includes cushions, be sure to throw those into the washing machine. (after reading the washing instructions)
Then wipe down all furniture. (tables & chairs) Now your porch is clean and ready for decorating!
3) Re-fresh furniture/ Or Buy New Furniture

At this point, you will know if your outdoor pieces need a new coat of paint, or if it is time to purchase some new outdoor furniture.
If you are budgeting, your best bet would be to wash down everything and give them a new coat of paint. A lot of times this is all you need to do for a brand new look!
4) Use Plants And Flowers
Now that your porch and furniture are all cleaned and washed, it is time for the more fun part-decorating. After you have set your furniture to where you want it to sit, (I recommend rearranging it rather than keeping it in the same spot as before)
Start thinking about where you want your plants to sit. Just like indoors, plants will transform your porch.
I recommend purchasing a few hanging plants and a few to stand around your furniture. Plants outdoors in the springtime are much easier to look after.
The weather is warmer and the sun is out a lot. Just don’t forget to water them!
5) Thrift Simple Figurines
You can give your porch a more tropical garden feel by adding a couple of simple figurines.
If your space is limited just one or two will do. And an important tip to remember is you don’t have to purchase expensive decor, a lot of times thrift stores carry the best ones! Check out a few of them before purchasing!
6) Hang Up Chimes
For me, nothing screams “spring” as loud as chimes do. They really let you know that warmer weather is on its way. Just with a slight breeze, they make delicate sounds that are soothing and make a perfect atmosphere to relax with,
And just like the figurines, chimes can be thrifted as well!
7) Add A Tabletop Fire Pit
If you want to take an extra step, add a tabletop fire pit. You don’t have to make it yourself. (unless you want to)
I will link one below! This will be great for spring nights that turn into summer nights. It is a perfect way to enjoy your family evenings!
8) Hang Up Outdoor Lights
Hanging up outdoor lights will be the perfect touch for your porch. It will bring all the decor together and complete the look. And most importantly it will provide the perfect vibe for your evenings spent outside!
