Life is ironic. It’ll take imperfect situations and give you perfectly good life lessons to learn.
The older you get the more you start to realize that *almost* everything in life comes with a lesson!
You will realize that if you want to have more patience, you’ll most likely be thrown into a situation that will teach you just that.
If you want to learn to be more gentle and kind to those around you, you might find yourself in a position that will make you want to do quite the opposite and you’ll have to overcome it.
I put together a few that I’ve come across and I hope they can help someone reading this today!
This post is all about good life lessons to learn!

life experiences that taught a lesson
1) Devotionals Are Important
In my short 23 years, I’ve learned how important your one-on-one time is with Jesus.
And I’m not just saying that because I grew up in a Christian home. I’m saying that because once you experience that you realize that your day or week just isn’t the same without it.
2) Other Peoples’ Opinions Don’t Matter Much
This life lesson is ongoing in my life! But it’s something that when you learn early on you will find how much easier your life will be!
3) You CAN Be Happy Even If It’s Not Where You Want To Be Yet
Realizing that I can be myself and be happy in my life even tho I didn’t have everything I wanted was such a relief. The sooner you grasp this, the better it’ll be for you!
4) Your Life Timeline Doesn’t Have To Be Like Everyone Else’s
It’s easy to get carried away in self-pity when you notice that some people in life are ahead of you. But they’re actually not. They’re in their timeline and you are in yours.
“You can’t be everything you want to be before your time”
5) Constantly Comparing Yourself To Others Takes Away Your Joy
The sooner you stop doing this the sooner you will become happy! Live in your own world and be the main character in your life!
6) You Can Be Close Friends With Someone And Not Talk Everyday
After I got married and moved away from most of my friends, I had to remember that it’s okay to not know what happens in someone’s life 24/7. Most of the time you can start where you left off the next time you talk.
7) It’s Okay To Have “Unproductive Days”
Every single day of your week doesn’t have to be super busy or productive. It’s okay to have a laid-back day and then a more productive day the next.
8) Your Mom Can Become Your Closest Friend
The older you get, the more you realize that your mom might be one of your closest friends. You’ll enjoy sharing more and more with her and it’ll be moments you cherish.
9) You Don’t Owe Everyone An Explanation
You don’t have to have an explanation for everyone of what or why you’re doing something. (In my opinion, you only owe an explanation to your spouse).
No matter what your reasoning might be your explanation just might be taken as an excuse.
10) If You & Your Loved Ones Are Healthy & Happy – You Have It All
A lot of times we tend to stress out over little things that won’t be important in 2-5 years. I heard someone say this while they were stressed out and it stuck with me. If you and your loved ones are healthy and happy- you really do have it all.
11) Keep Your Plans Quiet Until They’re Permanent
If you have big plans coming up, or things you want to do, it’s better to keep them to yourself. (or between you and your spouse/family)
Everyone will have different opinions about it and most of the time that isn’t always a good thing. On top of that, plans can change rapidly and you don’t want to keep updating people when they do.
12) It’s Okay If Things Don’t Go According To Plan
hard life lessons to learn
I like when things go according to plan. I need them to. And when they don’t, I stress out. I had to accept the fact that sometimes things will go a little differently and that’s okay. You just have to go with the flow!
13) You Have To Give Back (God, Charity)
This is a very important one. Whenever you are providing for yourself, (and/or family) remember to give back some of what you made. Either to the church or to a charity. It’s so important and plays a big role in your success.
14) Sometimes It’s Better Not To Say Anything
I’ve learned this one from my husband. Whenever you find yourself in a heated discussion with opinionated people, sometimes it’s best to just not say anything or agree. You’ll avoid conflict and leave with a peaceful mind.
15) Spending Time Outside Really Does Your Mental Health Good
If you set a goal to spend at least 10 minutes outside, you’ll notice the difference in your mood and overall you will feel so much better!
16) Communication Is SO Important In ALL Relationships
Communication really is key! Whether it’s in a relationship with your significant other or siblings/parents, you have to be able to communicate to be on the same page with them.
17) Overthinking Isn’t Worth It
I don’t think there was ever a time when I said “wow, I’m so glad I have been overthinking this the entire day, it has really helped me and made everything better”. The quicker you realize it the better it’ll be!
18) You Can’t Make Everyone Happy
Even us people-pleasers can’t make everyone happy! When you accept that, your life will become a lot simpler!
19) Breaks From Social Media Are A Must
Social media can get so overwhelming! It can cause you to compare yourself and your life very easily.
Have days where you just stay off all social media and live your life without seeing what others are up to.
20) A Bunch Of Tiny Rice Grain Make A Whole Meal
This one is kinda like the “practice makes perfect” but it applies everywhere.
When it seems like what you are doing isn’t making a difference, don’t stop because it is!
It might be little by little (grain by grain) and before you know it you can finally see results, the big picture, the whole meal.
21) You Don’t Have To Agree With Someone Wholeheartedly To Be Friends With Them
People will have different opinions and that’s okay. Not everyone will agree with you and you won’t agree with everyone!
22) Prayers & Fasting Do Move Mountains
As a spiritual person, this one is very important to me. Prayers and fasting can move mountains! They can change an entire situation. And they will make you remember that God is right here next to you!
23) A Stranger Can Become Your Everything
Crazy to think that years back my husband and I were strangers that didn’t know of each other’s existence and then one day, we became each other’s everything.
Be open to meeting new people because you just never know how life can lead!
