Decluttering your home is a big commitment and comes with its own problems. Asking yourself these important questions will help you overcome them!
It’s another post about decluttering!! I love the entire process of decluttering but the only thing that stumps me is the fact that I get attached to items too quickly.
I want to hold on to everything from everyone because “it’s sentimental”.
So I had to learn that if I want a clean, organized home then I had to let go of that type of thinking. And if you’re anything like me, you might be in the same boat.
Here are some questions that you should ask yourself while decluttering to help you throughout this process!
This post is all about decluttering your home!

decluttering tips for hoarders
1) Have I Worn/ Used This In The Last Year?
A lot of times we tend to hold on to items we don’t wear or use. It just sits there and the pile only gets bigger! So when you are decluttering ask yourself this and donate the things you no longer need!
2) Is This Kitchen Gadget Useful Or Just Taking Up Space?
A lot of times we see an ad or a gadget we think might be useful for us but we use it once and forget it. If you have these in your kitchen then its time to donate!
3) Is This Item Sentimental Or Do I Just Feel Bad For Getting Rid Of It?
If you like to hold on to gifted items (like me) than you might have a good bit of these type of items.
It’s okay to get rid of items you no longer use or items that don’t bring you joy.
Now of course there are items that really are sentimental but some you only keep because you feel bad getting rid of it. Decide which one it is and donate!
4) Do I Use Every Single One Of My Mugs?
I love mugs. Christmas ones especially. But there comes a time where you just have one to many. Answer this question and decide if you really use all of them. If not, its time for them to go!
5) Am I Actually Going To Use This Item Later Or Am I Just Saying That Because I Can’t Part With It?
Often times we create a “I’ll use it later pile” and more times then not we never use the item. Before throwing the item into this pile really ask yourself if you will use it in the near future. If not, you know what to do!
