Are you looking at your kitchen countertops not knowing how to get rid of the clutter? We have ALL been there which is exactly why we’ve come up with the most simple ways to declutter your countertops!
Countertops. They hold so many items.
Some items we use and some not as much. Little by little, the space gets more cluttered until we don’t even have room for simple food prep!
We’re here to help you declutter your kitchen countertops once and for all!
This post is all about 5 tips on how to declutter your kitchen countertops!
How To Declutter Your Kitchen Countertops
1) How To Arrange Appliances On Kitchen Counter
Appliances that can sit on your counter:
- Items that are frequently used ONLY
Example; coffee maker & toaster
*put away all appliances that are not used as often into cabinet space above*
If you love your coffee, then it makes sense to have your coffee maker out for your mornings. But having a blender standing next to it is unnecessary because you most likely don’t use it every day. (unless that’s your job, and you bake for a living!)
Look through all the items you have on your countertops and decide how often you use them! They might need to find a place somewhere else.
We also know that microwave or a toaster oven sometimes has no other place to sit. If that’s the case, make sure you don’t put anything on top of it and keep the area around it empty.
2) How To Declutter Kitchen Counters
Keep what you use to a minimum! You probably use utensils every day, but that doesn’t mean you should have 20 different ones out!
If you like the look of your kitchen tools in a container, that’s fine! Just have a few out, and the rest can go in a cabinet drawer.
Tip; go through the utensils you no longer use or are in poor condition and toss them out!
3) What To Keep On Kitchen Counters
Here are the items that you can keep on your counters
- Frequently used appliances/utensils
- Bowl of fruit
- Cutting board
- Arrangement of flowers
Do Not keep any fruit out on your counters! (This step excludes fruits because we believe they can serve for decor as well)
We’re not big fans of having crackers out or a bin for bread (If you have extra containers out, things will start piling on top of that, leaving you with more clutter to clean) but if there is no other place to store your bread or other items, make sure you don’t let anything pile up on the container!
4) Kitchen Countertop Storage Cabinet
Dedicate cabinet space to appliances not used frequently.
Let’s say maybe once a week or twice a month you use a mixer or blender.
You don’t want to stick it somewhere where it’s difficult to reach, but you also don’t want them sitting out.
Have a couple of cabinets dedicated to countertop items that you use a couple of times a month.
Tip; if you have a pantry, you can store items like mixers and blenders in there!
5) How To Decorate Kitchen Counters Without Clutter
Kitchen Counter Decor:
- Flower arrangement/plant
- Cutting boards
- Fruit Bowl
Having too much kitchen decor can look cluttering as well! Maybe a nice cutting board with a small plant is enough to spice up your kitchen decor.
Tip; remember, there is a way to overdo kitchen decor, so keep it to a minimum!
