how long to unpack after moving
1) Separate The Boxes By Rooms/ Areas
After moving in you will have boxes everywhere! They might be in a big pile in one room or just spread out randomly throughout your home.
Your very first step is to separate the boxes by room. Kitchen boxes go into the kitchen, bathroom boxes into the bathroom, etc.
Doing this will help the unpacking process tremendously.
2) Unpack the Bathroom
Once you have the boxes sorted out by rooms start with the bathroom. Make sure you have shower curtains up, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and toilet paper all put away. The bathroom will be used all throughout the unpacking session so have it done first!
3) Unpack the Kitchen
Your next most used area will probably be the kitchen (dishes specifically). You might find yourself reaching for a glass of water only to realize that everything is still packed away! So unpack your cups, mugs, plates, and utensils near the beginning!
4) Main Bedroom
Next, you will want to make sure you have your bedroom started. Focus on your bed and the clothes you are wearing daily. This way if you need to run for a quick errand you have a change of clothes right there!
5) Focus On Things You Use Daily
After those three areas of your home are unpacked, continue to focus on things that you use or will need in the nearest future. Before you know it, all of your main household items and personal belongings will be unpacked!
6) The Rest Of The Home
When you are done with the most used items, then shift your focus on everything else, things like home office supplies, guest room, garage, etc.
7) Cleaning
After all (or most) of the unpacking has been completed you will want to do a quick refresh of your new home. (even if you have already done this before moving in, because, during moving, dirt can easily get tracked in with all the walking in and out of the house!)
Doing a little cleaning will finish the unpacking process and let you fully relax and enjoy your new home!
