Learning to be happy and positive every day was probably one of the most challenging things I have learned and still am learning.
Life is an interesting thing and tends to throw all kinds of curveballs at us. It’s what we do with the curveballs that determine if we will stay happy or if it will ruin our day, week, or even month.
It doesn’t take much to start worrying and go down a spiral of overthinking everything. Talking about how to stay happy and positive is a very tricky topic because everyone goes through different situations in life, and my tips might not be able to help everyone reading them.
I’ll be focusing on day-to-day things that sometimes can ruin our mood. I hope by reading these tips, you can find your happiness and your positivity today.

1) Accept What You Can’t Change
How To Stay Happy And Positive
If you accept what you can’t change, you will be 50% happier (NOT proven statistically).
Often, unhappiness comes from situations we think we can control, but in the end, we realize we can not. There is no reason to dwell about a situation that you have zero power in change.
If you keep holding on (trying to change something) it will continue to upset you and discourage you. Accept what you can’t change and notice how much easier your situation becomes.
2) Focus On What You Can Change
After you have accepted that sometimes things just aren’t in your control, focus on things you can control.
Things such as having a positive morning routine (morning stretch, a cup of coffee, a good breakfast, work, tidying up) will help you forget the situations that are not in your control. (whatever that may be, day-to-day situations or serious life situations)
3) Live By A “Everything Happens For A Reason” Mindset
How To Stay Happy Always
Having the mindset that everything happens for a reason is similar to accepting what you can’t change.
This will help you with the tiniest things. For example, having a change of plans last minute or a car breaking down before heading out on the road is not something we take lightly.
While at that moment it’s frustrating, tell yourself that “everything happens for a reason” It’ll help you relax your mind and let go of that frustration and annoyance.
4) Remember That Worry Will Not Change ANYTHING
Oh, if only worrying helped- ALL of my situations would be resolved. Hearing the words “just stop worrying!” are not helpful when you actually have a worrisome situation, so try to remember this beforehand.
Help your mind understand that worry will only make it worse! There’s a quote that I love “Pray for it as much as you worry for it” -Unknown.
There isn’t anything more true! The moment you decide to stress about something – pray about it and know that God got you!
5) Use Words Of Affirmation
Yes, from the side, this might be silly but trust me, it works. Stand in front of the mirror and use words of affirmation (or Bible verses!) to encourage yourself.
Saying something like “…If God is for us, who can be against us?” -Romans 8:31 or “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” -Phillippians 4:13, will put strength and happiness back into your heart.
Words of affirmation will help you to keep going and not let day-to-day situations take your happiness!
6) Focus On The Small Things In Life
Remembering to focus and notice the small things in life will be a tremendous help for you! Let that warm cup of coffee in the morning cheer you up!
Let your dirty dishes in the sink remind you of your family that surrounds you. Enjoy a cozy book on the couch. Let your spouse’s affection make your day. Have a morning run and stop by the coffee shop.
Humans tend to let our focus set on all the things we don’t have in our lives that we forget to remember what we do have! Today, take a moment to notice the small things in life and let them make you happy.
7) Don’t Let Negative Thoughts Cloud Your Mind

Don’t give in to those negative thoughts circling in your head! As soon as a negative thought goes into your mind that causes you to worry and rob you of your happiness-shut it out!
It is so easy to start spiraling and overthinking when we lose control of our thoughts. Make an effort not to let negativity cloud your mind.
8) Make An Effort To See The Good And Happiness
It is so easy to get comfortable in a season of discouragement, worries, and unhappiness. Make an effort to get out of that.
Don’t allow your mind to get comfortable and lose faith that things will get better. Try not to let small things of inconvenience ruin your day. Because it all starts out tiny, but then it grows.
So next time you spill your cup of coffee or your kid throws a tantrum at the store- stop, take a deep breath, and remember it’s just a tiny inconvenience. Things do get better and its all about having the right mindset!
9) Make Time For A Bible Devotional
Setting time for you and Jesus, will change your day 360. You will notice how the same small things that used to bother you no longer do.
You will be able to hold your ground, captivate your thoughts, and focus on the good you have in life. Don’t take this tip lightly! It will help you hold on to your happiness day-to-day and week by week!
10) Live Your Life In Thankfulness
This tip is the most difficult, especially when everything seems to be going wrong and not the way you planned. But It is just like focusing on the good things in life.
Be thankful to God for the season you are in right now. Praise God in the storm and watch your situations change! And if the situations don’t change, your attitude towards them will!
